Hardscaping Using Reclaimed Granite

The challenge of transforming a tired, neglected pool area of this otherwise beautiful
Lynnfield property into an ideal and private outdoor living space gave us at Olde New
England Granite an opportunity to utilize our reclaimed granite materials.

The decaying timber retaining wall was replaced with one using dimensional reclaimed
granite blocks – small enough that they could be used in the restricted space, yet
sizable enough to provide a sturdy wall. Slope curbing was used as “fillers” (note:
some vertical placements) and for the wall cap.

Reclaiming hardscaping

The redesign and relocation of the fence allows the functional and aesthetic granite wall
to become the focal feature of the pool surround. With selective pruning and clearing,
slope retention using granite ledge pieces, ground covers, and colorful hardy
perennials, plus the elements of irrigation, lighting and a grass apron,…our mosaic
granite is complimented and the previously less – than – appealing pool area has
become a welcoming oasis!

reclaimed staircase

A striking new approach to the elevated pool deck was designed and built using a
reclaimed staircase which was custom cut, then thermalized and installed on a radius.

The “dry” wall construction provided an ideal winter job… no cement or mortar is needed.
