Using Reclaimed Granite to Establish a Barrier

A project was planned to extend a fence along a property line and establish a hedgerow privacy screen.

The grade differential between the upper level and the lower edge of the slope would create a bit of a challenge.

Excavation was done to establish the desired grade… and the fence line set accordingly (note the poles are marked – arrow.) The fence is installed “relatively level” – not undulating with the terrain.

Olde New England Granite had the answer – in the form of “Original” antique wall cap material.

A trench was dug along the fence and with a processed material base the “wall cap” granite was set in place on grade.

The granite is structural enough to hold the grade. The uniform size allows for an easy installation and a “finished look.”

A trench is now dug adjacent to the barrier for the planting of the 18’ Dark American Arborvitaes.

The trees were lowered into place using an improvised strap & chain “cradle” via a telehandler.
