1929 Granite Wall Caps from Demolished Fire Station Site

Recently, Olde New England Granite rescued and reclaimed this fabulous antique granite wall cap that extended the entire length of the wall or approximately 150 LF. This granite had been installed on this 1929 fire station site and was carefully removed when the building and immediate structures were very recently dismantled.

We believe the origin of this granite was the Deer Isle Quarry off the coast of Maine. This famous quarry produced a beautiful lavender grain that is still faintly visible after almost 100 years of aging and weathering.

About the Granite Wall Cap:

  • Total length of this cap 150 +/- linear feet – 29 pieces
  • Each section measures between 4’-6’ long.
  • Every section measures a consistent 6” rise.
  • Surface widths are all 16”
  • All sections have aged and weathered beautiful hand-tooled surfaces. This includes the risers and both ends.
  • This granite ensemble is truly the “ultimate” in antique granite wall cap material.
  • In addition, these pieces can also be used as beautiful, consistent 16” wide steps with 6” for the rise.
